Chairman of Tata Sons calls on PM Modi before handover of Air India

The government has notified an agreement between Air India and a special purpose vehicle for transferring the carrier’s non-core assets, marking another step in the national airline’s takeover by the Tata Group on Thursday.
Ratan Tata, chairman of the salt-to software conglomerate, is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the takeover.
India recorded 286,384 new cases of Covid-19 and 573 deaths from the disease in the last 24 hours, said the health ministry on Thursday. Total Covid-19 cases increased to 40.37 million and death toll in the pandemic is at 491,700
Prime Minister Modi will host the first India-Central Asia Summit in a virtual format during which leaders are expected to discuss  relations and the regional security situation.
